What We Do

We provide the full range of ecological surveys you are likely to need during your planning application. This includes the initial survey of a site that has many names such as: Preliminary ecological appraisals, extended phase 1 habitat surveys, wildlife surveys, ecological assessments and biodiversity surveys.

If you are only developing a building, you are likely to be asked for wildlife and ecology surveys that can include:

1. Bat surveys – preliminary visual assessments or full surveys
2. Biodiversity surveys
3. Protected species surveys
4. Devon Wildlife report

Preliminary visual assessment for bats and breeding birds, bat and barn owl surveys, bat surveys or the planning authority may just call it a wildlife survey or an ecology survey.

Following this initial survey, certain phase 2 surveys in relation to protected species may be recommended such as: Bat, reptile, badger, dormouse, otter, water vole, great crested newt, breeding bird, plant and invertebrate surveys.

Finally, when you get your planning permission you may have planning conditions asking for: Species specific method statements, landscape and ecology management plans, ecological mitigation and enhancements schemes, biodiversity mitigation plans and European Protected Species licencing.
